Heading north to Warialda you cross the two bridges and travel for approximately 3 kms, to where the road takes a slight rise.

At the crest of the rise is the Whitlow Road turn off to your right, which is marked by a sign and two white posts.

Turn here and travel for approximately 4 kms, turn left onto the old gravel road which runs alongside Bobby Whitlow Creek.

This is a good picnic spot, and you can fossick for alluvial gold and jasper in the creek. After leaving the creek via the old gravel road turn left back onto Whitlow Road and travel a further 1 km where on the right hand side of the road you will find a sign for the Rhodonite Mine turn down this side track to the mine. Manganese containing pink rhodonite of an excellent quality is found at this point.
