KEERA ROAD (Bora Creek)

Common finds in this area

jasper

Jasper

When travelling east from Bingara along the Gwydir River for approximately 10 kms you will cross a cattle grid, beyond the grid the road curves a little at a cement slab (this is the first cement slab you reach after leaving town) this area is Bora Creek

Fossicking for gold and varied coloured jasper, as well as other stones that polish very nicely is permitted along the creek bed and its banks but do not leave the track.

To the right the creek runs into the hills and to the left it is only a short distance to where the creek enters the Gwydir River, on the banks of which jasper and other stones may also be found.
