This route begins along the Warialda Road 600 metres from the Bingara Post Office, between the two bridges. Turn right or upstream after crossing the first bridge.
Take the Copeton Dam Road (right hand fork) keeping the hospital and historic home ‘Niara’ on your right. Follow the river for 10 kilometres to Bora Creek. Along the way occasional bush tracks used by fisherman and campers swing down to the left among the mature trees beside the waters edge. At Bora creek turn right into a parking area and look for Rose Robins and Scarlet Honeyeaters.
There is a camping ground 6.5 kilometres from Bora Creek, no facilities. The road continues through riverside forest, mostly unfenced, Yellow Box, Silver Leaved Ironbark and Boobiallas.
From Bingara for 18 kilometers the road passes through cleared grazing land and passes through historic Keera Station (28 kilometres from town), settled by the Mcpherson and Munro families from Scotland in 1848. Descendants of the Munro family continue to live at Keera and conduct the renowned Booroomooka Angus Stud, the foundation stock for the stud were imported from Scotland in the mid 1920’s.
Entry to the Munro State Forest is on the left, 34 kilometres from Bingara. There are spectacular lookouts 3 kilometres from the entry. Park in the circular frive and take the 250 metre walk to the summit.
After leaving the circular drive return to the main road and turn left for the Copeton Dam - Bundarra Road intersection (42 kilometres from Bingara) turn right to Bundarra or continue left to Copeton Waters State Park.
Return to Bingara via the same route or continue over the dam wall and spillway to Inverell. The Copeton Waters State Park brochure states there are 152 species of bird to be found.
